Meet Rich
Who I Am

I'm Rich Shaw, the founder of Cadence Bookkeeping.

By day, I'm a staff accountant managing multi-location financial reporting, inventory reconciliation, and monthly close processes in QuickBooks Online for a national parts distributor. I know my way around complex books — and I genuinely enjoy making them clean and organized.

I started Cadence Bookkeeping because I saw too many small business owners struggling with their finances — not because they weren't smart enough to figure it out, but because they were busy running their businesses. I wanted to be the person who takes that weight off their plate.
What I Bring
My background isn't a straight line, and I think that's what makes me good at this.

I've been a music teacher, a Director of Music Operations at a dinner theatre, and an Account Manager at Apple. Every one of those roles taught me something I use today — how to stay organized under pressure, how to communicate clearly, and how to build trust with people who are counting on me.

When I moved into accounting, everything clicked. I found the same creative problem-solving I loved in music, combined with the precision and structure I'm wired for. Now I bring that combination to every client I work with.

Why "Cadence"
In music, cadence is what gives a piece its resolution -- the moment everything lands where it should.
In accounting, it's the rhythm that keeps a business running: the monthly close, the regular reconciliation, the steady pulse of books that are always up to date.

That's what I'm here to build for your business -- a rhythm you can count on.
